On the drawing board update

In usual ADHD fashion I decided to diversify my artwork at 2 am in the morning. My reasoning behind this was coffee infused but also that I wanted to offer works of art that people would cherish, that were not only bespoke but personal to them. So on January the 18th on a new ground (drafting film) which I had never used and could have proved disastrous I set about drawing my Labrador Ivy.

My vision was clear I would use my artist skills (I have been an artist all my life) to create pet portraits, luckily myself and the drafting film got on like old friends and there wasn't any awkward moments, to be fair it had it easy just sitting there looking all blank, the coloured pencils took centre stage!

Now just like real life one dog is simply not enough, so 3 days later I decided once again to work on the drafting film and create my other dog Skye. and then because I could my cat Kit.

I'm still yet to do Willow my puppy, my beloved Chequers the cat (who has his wings) or a horse as planned because before I knew it I had four commissions, I was ecstatic and may have celebrated with a little too much wine, but it was now time to get down to business. Slight snagging point when we moved house so we could fit all four children and a dog (that accidentally became three) under one roof I no longer had a studio (it hadn't mattered before because I was renovating not creating). So after using the dinning room table for a stint I could no longer deal with the noise and having to clear my art away every five minutes so I have repurposed my dressing table, ahh peace, heaven really with a door that locks too!

I now set my sights on a shiny new site, I got over excited and order business cards, flyers and several other braded items, more papers, and art supplies I probably didn't need. Bounding off the drawing board next were two beautiful Newfoundland dogs, brother and sister, done on Arches watercolour paper.

Still on the drawing board with a fair bit more to do and the original purpose for this part of the blog, is a very gentle Border collie who is 13, I have added a smaller piece as a surprise for his Dad (they haven't got many photos of him) and I have another smaller one he had requested to do. I visited them to show my work in person and take photos of Ben which turned out to be a difficult job due to my camera being too old and him not leaving me as he loves a good fuss.

I still have two more portraits to complete so I will be more organised and post sooner instead of a mass post.

Have a fab day
